The Here Comes Summer Hunt at Flawless has little strawberries and specials on the carts. The link takes you to the front of Lindy's where you can drool at the shoes on the cart and more weekend specials inside as well as hunt prize for the latest edition of the Silk Road.
The print dress from LivGlam is one of those that comes with a dress HUD. You wear that, click on it, and it gives you the dress in all its sizes in a folder. When you're done, you just delete that folder because you can always get it from the HUD - which cuts down on inventory. Brilliant! It's one thing if you are the same shape all the time, but if you have many shapes for different occasions, say, if you blog about fashion all the time,  it becomes extra-special handy. Many thanks!

Fuschia has another multi-media installation at the Paris Metro art gallery - and there is yet another dress. This one can be worn as the separate mesh mini-dress or with the skirt, clutch, and hat.

Rag Dollz is going to give me a nervous breakdown some day. All of my avatars traipsed through that shop today (saying hello to the greeter each time in a different way) collecting hunt gifts. There's the Silk Road Hunt, the Medieval Fantasy Hunt, and the third one wasn't even advertised! I don't know if it's an old one that someone forgot to tidy away, but it has period zombie gear in it. Look in the costume area for a lumpy thing that might be a brain or it might be a small coil of rope. I couldn't tell.

Now, let me mention that this might seem like a lot of work just to collect some goodies. Well, you don't know the half of it. Imagine having to unload all these boxes, wear the stuff, adjust it, photo it, edit the photos (some light photoshopping is done just to touch up small areas that I didn't notice in time weren't quite right, such as the prim feet in the bikini shot), get all the info (which often entails going back to the source, because I'm not all that organized), and then put it all in a post. This can (and did) take all day (taking out time for meals, of course).

It's all worthwhile if it gives you the heads up on something you absolutely can't live without. (Oh, do hurry to Rag Dollz and get the Sad Fate of Sophie Longbottom outfit and pair it up with some ghastly skin! It will make you giggle!) I only do this because I love the novelty and creativity and I just have to share.

Anyone can tell you that I hate to pay for anything, but usually find something at the shops during hunts or while scouting out freebies and will pay actual real virtual currency for it. And I will sometimes leave a tip if the shop owner was smart enough to leave out a tipjar.

If you are a shop-owner, two things:
     1. Hardly anybody ever reads these posts so hand over freebies at your own risk.
and
     2. Put out a tipjar, for heavenssake! Some of us don't have a lot of money but we'd like to show our appreciation.

What?! Are you kidding?! Get outta town! Ummm, skins not mentioned are either from Aeva or somewhere else. Platform heels are colorchange ones from Baby Monkey. Hair is from all over the map, but Analog Dog is very generous with the freeballs and Truth sends out great group/sub gifts. The Bride of Frankie pose on poor Sophie is from my marketplace shop (see the link at right). For other locations, aw, use your search button! That's what it's for!

Return of the Decomposition Notebook

True to her word, Jupiter has reworked the zombie skins and they will be available for the Twisted Hunt, starting tomorrow, the hunt itself starting here.

As you can see, Lludmila is really happy about that.  But even happier that the prize box contains not just the doll skins, the key, and 3 lovely green zombie skins ...

... but the zombie skins are named after her!  Yay!  I feel so - so validated!  Oooo, lookit the nice lip color!  There's a bright red evening lip, this lighter (perhaps coral) color, and the pale lips as in the photo at top.


The super-stuffed Absentia Twisted Hunt prize will be hidden somewhere near here.  Bwah-ha-haaa!

Decomposition Notebook -

I feel like a real fashion blogger now! A real content creator/artist has asked me to vet a new skin for zombies. The skin Lludmila wears all the time and that has made me so happy for the past two years came from Absentia. Recently, Jupiter Vale asked her subbers for ideas and feedback and so I thought I'd put in my notecard with its two lindens' of considered opinion ("OMG like I TOTES [heart] UR stuff!!!!!") and, of all things, she replied! And sent me a new skin! And asked for my feedback!
I had logged on early in the morning because I'd missed the cut-off for the Midnight Mania board that was giving out the free pole dance (I know, I know, pole dances are slutty - I didn't say I'd deploy it anywhere!) and there was a gift skin from Jupiter at Absentia for me to evaluate! I only had time to rush to [insert name of store that's actually having a stupendous sale right now where everything, even the 1200L mini-cave, is going for 100-199L] to slap the MM board, still wearing the 18th century gown and powdered wig from the night before at Grizzy's (have I mentioned Grizzy's Cafe before?) before heading off to work, but -
I threw on the skin and, in the relative privacy of my skybox, removed all my clothes to drink it all in. Awww, shhhhhhugar! My clothes wouldn't come completely off and I had to get to work, delaying my leisurely but expert critique until afternoon. See photo below. For some reason, Blogger now gives me crummy photos, but if you click on them, they sharpen up something wonderful. No, really. Try it.
Lludmila in the new skin looks more like she's intentionally green. If I had a dollar for everyone who thought I was just melanin free ... I mean, get a decent graphics card, people! The darker green with the pink tinge looks like a zombie version of a tan.

Jupiter did some tidying as well as enhancing the skin color. Note below how much smoother the shadow on the jaw is. This was something that always bothered me a little ... but only when I was looking up at Lludmila, which was not very often, being 4'8" tall. But I recall thinking, if only that shading on the jaw could be smoothed out. It looks like she tried to hide her jowls with make-up. She also made the eye sockets a bit less dark, which gave the opportunity to make nicer eyebrows - which don't signify in this photo because the hair is in the way. You'll just have to trust me on this. I thought the lips were just a little too light - making Lludmila's rather large Sally Kellerman-ish mouth almost disappear. We can't have that. I've asked for a little more color there. [Gosh! It's like being a Real Person, or somfin', ordering an artist around - "You there - more lip color!"]

Alas, we can't give Lludmila cleavage - but, stickler for decorum that she is (note the modest application of pasties), would she even want to show cleavage? I mean that cleavage that's all the rage now, where it looks like a successful application of eyeshadow to suggest that the mammaries are siamese twin cantaloupes.

And is this really all about Lludmila, anyway? I'm sure Jupiter (or, "Jup" as I call her now - "Hey, Jup! More lip color, babe! Get on the stick!") plans to market the final product to all SL residents with undead leanings, not just me. In fact, her intent is to portray some real decomposition. [/me shudders with delight.] To this end, I have tried the skin on some of my other avatars to see how it translates.

Makeover For the Undead

Jane Doe, Before ... well, after life but before the makeover.

Jane Doe came to me with a problem: her afterlife wasn't all she wanted it to be. She just wasn't getting the attention she wanted from others in the Differently Alive community. Was it her breath? No, darling, although it is pretty vile, it's not much different from any other zombie. It's your style - or lack of it, for that matter. Just look at this poor thing! That dress. Those shoes. And that hair! It was obvious Jane needed the sort of help that only I, as the virtual world's only fashion maven for the undead, could provide. First of all, that dress had to go. All of this, by the way, was free.

Jane liked this dress, but if she wanted real pizzaz in her afterlife, she needed something that made a statement.

I chose for her this fabulous vintage freebie from Fandango, a 70s disco dress with go-go boots. This freebie is a bargain beyond pareil. It comes in many colors and a variation with pants with frills as well as disco jewelry. Boy, it takes me back to when I was alive in the 70s! This outfit is so retro-chic, it almost makes her hair look good - but we still have to do something about that.

To go with the disco outfit I chose a vintage 'do from Vignette, where the hair, vintage and otherwise, is free. Can you say, "Fabboo!"? Next we need some sexier skin. We tried a couple before we came up with the gnarly Halloween skin from Skullfuct:

It's just a shame that it doesn't come with a cleavage option. I should have a word with the artist at Skullfuct about that (not that poor Jane has any cleavage at this point - which is a caution to us to not give up on supportive foundations just because we're dead).
The only things remaining were minor finishing touches, a manicure and some eyelashes from MADesigns.

In a matter of minutes, with just a few changes, we have gone from dull to darling! Who would not be proud to stalk the discos of the virtual world with this living, erm, sort-of-living doll? We have put glamor and style back into her, for lack of a better word, life!

And Cheap

In vain I have looked for free or cheap clothing for the unslutty avatar in Second Life. Okay, not totally in vain. Freebies from the designers are better than ever and I follow those other freebie blogs slavishly, but a great deal of what I see appears to appeal to actual, as opposed to virtual, young people. I want my avatar to look elegant, but not ... well, slutty. I'm not interested in faddish fashions, like those clunky shoes (that I wore in the 70s). I recoil from stilettos that look painful and ... well, prostitute-y. I don't have anything against prostitutes, I just don't want to be mistaken for one [which causes awkward moments and I have enough awkward moments in Real Life (tm)].

This blog is intended to highlight what I consider to be unslutty and inexpensive clothing that appeals to me, one of the over 50-ish undead. It's not meant as a daily resource of what's hot and free, because I just don't have the time for that. Much of the artwork (even system clothes can be art) created and appearing in SL is breathtaking in its beauty, delightful in its playfulness, or just plain looks good on someone whose skin has gone green. Sometimes it even works on my other avs and they will appear also.
