The Pack-Rat's Lament

Just when you thought you needed one more gown like a hole-in-the-head-with-a-great-big-arrow-sticking-out-of-it-that-just-happens-to-be-on-fire ... umm - where was I?

Anyway, I've gone totally off clothing, but still drag my arsvatar to The White Armory to see what prim nightmare they have on offer as a group gift that will add another forty-leven items to my inventory.  Oh, sheesh - lookit this.   Yet another gorgeous gown, this time based on one of my favorite artists, designed to look terrific on a model standing around and gently sifting poses, but causing an ice-nine of lag on a dance floor, which is where my avs usually hang out.  Now what?  Put it on, take a picture (or twelve), and sort it into the Siberia of sorting folders (Clothes>gowns>blue gowns ... or would it be black? multi-colored? GAH!), leaving it to take up room like all the rest of them (one a week for how long?)?

Monet's water lily inspired gown from The White Armory

My avs wear these outfits once and then they are forgotten.  Who has the virtual social schedule to wear a hundred gowns?  Not me!   I'm still working up the nerve to go through the White Armory dresses, look over the POS* texture thoughtfully included (thankyouthankyou) and delete, delete, delete. ... But I caaaaaan't!  I can't delete these creations any more than I can leave the group.  I spent a couple of hours this morning blue penciling stuff in my inventory I figured I didn't really need and when I emptied the trash, it turned out to be less than 400 pieces, leaving my inventory still over 40,000.  How many times have I said, "I need to keep my inventory below 40,000/38,000/36,000/30,000/25,000," etc.?

This year I avoided the Ivalde Advent extravaganza for the sake of my inventory.  I did relent today and went to see what the last one was (because it was right in the box and you didn't have to search for it).  Oh, noooooo.  [head-desk, head-desk]  Oh, wait!  Look at that system skirt stretch!  This dress will never dance!  /me's finger lingers over the delete ...

Last advent gift from Ivalde

I didn't even make it out of the building without picking up something else.  They would put the Peace On Earth hunt thingie right out in the open where anyone could find it.  Oh great, this should be easy to get rid of.  I don't have any shoes to go with this ... Oh, wait.

Ivalde POE hunt gift

Arrrrrrgh!  However, the search for "emerald" in my inventory pulled up three hairs that I'm pretty sure I'll never need.  I can delete those.  I should probably go through all those hairs that came with all the colors of the rainbow in them and delete all but white and black ... and maybe some chestnut or warm browns or ... GAH!

Oh woe is Kathy!

You know what the worst part was?  I was cycling through the poses and this skirt, a normal un-meshy one, can take anything you dish out.  I have a leaping splits pose and it went all culotte on me instead of shreddy system skirt.  Oh, pook.  I guess I'll have to keep this one too.

Brilliant skirt action!

Gowns Galore

Gift from Leezu
In order to qualify for "unslutty" this gift from Leezu had to have modesty undies added. Other avatars might not mind going around in the cold with their whole midsection hanging out, but, as we all know, that isn't Lludmila's thing.  And, yes, that is a lighted candle on top of that hat.

"Who's Queen?"
We've been picking up the weekly gift gowns from The White Armory for longer than my inventory cares to remember.  In fact, I think deleting them would probably solve all my inventory problems.  But then they put this gown out and I remember how much I love the gorgeous fairy-taleness of it all.  This is a great gown if you want to take up as much room as possible.  The prim skirt really fans out.  It took up the whole photo-box and stuck out the back! Ossummmm!

Just one of the Vintage Apparel Emporium
Advent gifts

If you've been to the Vintage Apparel Emporium every day in December, you will have picked up the pieces of so far three vintage gowns and there's a fourth showing up!  Unlike most shop's Advent gifts, you can still get the earlier gifts ... for the price of the day!  Day One is 1L, Day Two is 2L, etc.

Artful Donning

Comes another exhibit at the Paris Metro Gallery, comes another selection in the Artist Series couture.  Lludmila loves going to exhibits, and this one was particularly good.  And you also get free dresses made from the art textures.  Upstairs has the Rorschach images of Reezy Frequency.  One of the more interesting was made into this gown:

Reezy Frequency - Back

Reezy Frequency - Front

The downstairs exhibit displays representational work in different media by Xirana.   Lludmila just loves those frills over the breasts.  We were particularly fond of the drawings of autumn trees, but this black and white makes a stunning dress.

Xirana - showing off the awesome Nardcotix shoooooes
that look like they were made for this outfit.

The pictures that follow are just because I took so many pictures and I hate for them to go to waste.

Gowns by Paris Metro found outside the Gallery.
Hair from the fabulous sale at Dark Mouse. [25L for color packs on all hairs and 3 free packs]
Absinthe shoooooes from Nardcotix (an old hunt prize).

I just love the movement of the flexis.

Oh, so Lludmila does wear false eyelashes. Who knew?

Dark Mouse has a huge hair sale going. Color packs are only 25L and there are are few totally free ones.

Is that a Phlogisiten Lever or are you just happy to see me?

Dress ensemble from [BELLE]issima, 10L. Whatta bargain! This comes with cute ballet flats I ordinarily would wear but I am currently enamored of the
Shoooooes from Nardcotix, 10L hunt gift and worth every penny.
Freebie AO available at Grimalkin's Workshop.
Jubilie hair, an old freebie [modded blonde by me], but available for 179L in many colors on the SL Marketplace.  I just love this hair - it's soooo ... happy!
Bachelor Ice Maker/Phlogistigen Pump at the skating pond on Awen, where the Bookstackers hang out. Maybe you'll have better luck with him than Lludmila did.

Awww, Pluie!

Many apologies for being away. There have been nice things floating about for free, but I just didn't think my avs needed more clothes.  Then Paris Metro sent me this lovely Christmas gift today, just because je suis magnifique!

Gift from Paris Metro: La Pluie, Red Rain

The Red Rain dress is slightly slutty (what with the bare midriff and all - although in my youth I was not above wearing a similar sheer empire waisted peasant dress over matching bikini panties and consequently being sent to the Vice Principal's office for "indecent exposure"), so Lludmila opted out. Also, the skirt was a bit too long, even after modding the root prim to be invisible (it was poking through her chest).  And look how nicely it flows!

Advent Calendar gift jeans from Isis
Isis has an Advent Calendar going that hands out items as varied as this nicely detailed black jeans (prim cuffs removed because I prefer the pegged leg look), sexy little dresses, tippy-toe socks, skins-n-shapes, etc.

Hunt Prize from Nardcotix
Sorry, I can't show off these shoes from Nardcotix enough. I've been wearing red for two weeks now just so I can put them on.  Hmm, I wonder if I should get Lludmila her own pair and tint them her skin color.  I always drooled over the Nardcotix shoes, but tightwad that I am, couldn't bring myself to pay that much for them.  This is the second pair of freebies from them (okay, 10L) and I'm so grateful I'll just grovel right now: grovel grovel grovel please do this again grovel grovel.

Santa Kilt, only 99L
Kilts: not just for men anymore!  There's nothing like a really, really nice kilt to make an unusual fancy outfit.  This one is reduced for a short time at [Belle]issima.  There's also a women's outfit, but - meh! Who needs another dress?

Group Gift from [Belle]issima
This cute set of jammies, scarf, and mix-n-match slippers is the group gift.  I had to really zoom in to see what the "steam" was coming out of the right-hand slipper and it turns out to be The Star shining on a Nativity Scene.  Sooo cute!

Kathy's skin is from Heartsick.  Normally, I would call this make-up "Raccoon Eyes" but it seems to work here.  The hair is from Vignette.  Kathy's shape is thanks to my fiddling with the sliders and I'm beginning to think she needs to eat cookies.

Sorry there are no links. I've got a really busy RL right now and, ohforheavenssake, use the Search thingie!
