This Weekend

This 60 Linden Weekend offering from Sweet Lies  is a gorgeous medieval-y dress with beautiful accessories. The dress is mesh and the sleeve puff embellishments are extra prims. It comes with the belt, necklace, earrings (peer through the hair, they're in there), and the circlet. There is an additional modesty top for those who don't want to show off the tatas.

The Poised new group gift is ever so cute. The group is free to join. The outfit came with Slink platform pumps, but no alpha layer for the pumps. Not sure if you need the Slink feet for that or if it's just an omission. Annthrasite substituted some Baby Monkey platform pumps.

As beautiful as mesh clothing is, there are always little glitches, especially if you're planning on your avatar doing any moving. Mine are out dancing at least twice a week. For the blog I sometimes have to find a pose that shows off the mesh at its best, long hair will cover a multitude of pecadillos, or in some extreme cases a teeny bit of Photoshop is required. Worst case scenario: I throw the outfit away and it doesn't get blogged. The two outfits above had their little problems, but are so gorgeous I had to share them. Perhaps a more standard shaped av (which I refuse to succumb to) wouldn't have those problems. [Is it just my avs or does everyone's av have a right shoulder that's higher than the left??!!]

There is also a cheating workaround where I make an underlayer to cover bits of skin that show that the alpha layer doesn't cover. Fingerless gloves in a matching shade will patch bits of elbow and forearm that stick out. I saved one of my favorite outfits with this. I can't express how disappointed I was that a bit of arm showed, but sticking on a pair of black gloves that only cover from just below the elbow to above saved that top from the ignominy of the trash file.

Do you have any workarounds you use to "save" a favored outfit that falls just slightly short of being perfection?

Trying Not To Mess Up This Time

Men's gift: Bard

We're taking it slow this time so we don't screw things up like Last Time.

The Medieval Fantasy Hunt is green! Hop in your Superthunderstingcar and head over to Blue Moon where two gifts await to please the gentles of both sexes. Hark ye and list while the men's gift looks for his lost lute. The Bard has a mesh shirt and boots. The boots are fair gigunda, but can be modded down for Kathy's size 0 feet (which are apparently no longer in fashion* - tough nuts).

Women's gift: dark gown.

Look elsewhere to find the gift for the distaff side, but don't talk like that to Annthrasite or she will have off of you the testicles, and not in a nice way. She is pictured here in the lovely mesh dark gown. She saw it on Kathy earlier and braved six kinds of lag to get it - relogging at least that many times and rebooting the router. It was fain worth it, forsooth. There's even a necklace in there - but someone's hand is in the way.

There is also a group gift of an enormous watermill. Holy moly! Too bad Llludmila has maxed out her groups!

Blue Moon Enterprizes

*The social media chat reveals to the author the size 0 foot is now obsolete with the advent of mesh feet. Avs are now free to have pedal extremities that are colossal. Now, if only they would also make their mesh hands in proportion to the mesh feet. I look at many fashion blogs and fashion ads and keep seeing these itsy-tiny hands with feeble wrists attached to bulky arms.
And, while I'm at it, I'd like to complain about the "average" av sizes that have huge bottoms and no bellies. In order to fit mesh pants on my avs I have to wear larger and larger sizes, making the back of the pants stick out enough to hide a laptop. Women have bellies. And if they have an ass that big, they also have thighs that rub together. What's with that croquet wicket look? Let's not even get into the cartoon breasts. But at least people know those are just for laughs.
Okay - sorry. Rant over.
Wear the baby hands with the comedy breasts and the wicket legs if you want. It's your virtual life.

Remember the Ladies ...

Darn trees as far as the eye can see.

Blue, very very blue, damask.

Fantasy lady.

When we did "Once Upon a Mattress"
this is what we called a "Conehead."

Firing on all Zylindras.

Ms. Harlequin - skirt not pictured.

"This way, yer lordship!"

Renaissance swordsman, boots included.

Renaissance and Medieval hunts are the big chance for men to look fab for free. So, turn off the football and Have at you, sirrah! Oh, and all these outfits have corresponding women's ensembles - but women don't really care about clothes, do they?

Cloak and tunic and boots.

Even in the Olde Dayes, they decloaked.
I wonder if they were harried by Klingons?

Archer ... boots from previous item.

Men's boots from Lindy's Shoes.

Whichever way you pronounce it, it's chic
to shake a leg like a Sheik.

Harleyquin.

What your well-dressed peasant is wearing.
Pumpkin not included.

Say Arrr!

See next post for erratum.

Costume for ladies and gents from The Renaissance Hunt.

A note from Brain Circuit, Inc. reminded us that it's time for the Medieval Fantasy Hunt ... and it looks to be fabulous! Medieval Fantasy Hunt pix here. Above is a sample from Brain Circuit, Inc. - and being piratical has never looked better!

I'd have more, but the internet is intermittent chez nous and I was barely able to provide this picture and the link! Fortunately, the hunt goes on for a month and Lludmila will have a crack at the 3 houses, the church, the furniture, the knife-throwing wheel (for that other blog) ... ohhhhh, it's just killing us that we can't get in and that we had to go to the local library just to upload this much!

sigh.

Update: Here's why I wanted to do but the interwebs weren't cooperating.

We Go Medieval On Cal

Soanyway - We send Cal out to the Medieval Fantasy Hunt to see what he could find. Cal gave it a valiant effort.  [What I mean is, I ran his avatar while my husband looked over my shoulder every now and then and said, "Is that it there?"]

You know how men are - if they can't find something right away, they decide they didn't want it anyway.  "Shopping" consists of going to the store, finding something, and buying it.  Men go out, find the same pair of shoes they have bought for the last ten years and buy another pair - without even trying them on!  They just don't understand.  You're supposed to try on every pair of shoes that catches your eye (in one or two sizes, just to test out the fit) ... and then buy the same pair you got last time.  [This, in any case, is the way I buy sneakers.]  It's like the Hunter vs. Gatherer gambit.  Women tend to look and look and look, day after day, never buying anything, (driving their menfolk wild), turning over leaves and checking the color and smell.  Then, all of a sudden, we swoop in and buy a whole bunch of ... stuff.  I've had an old boyfriend accuse me of not wanting to commit myself to buying something in front of him.  He just wasn't there when the stuff was "ripe."

Where was I?  Oh, yes - Cal went hunting.  Oh, look!  Just what he needed: another outfit from LnL ... I think half his wardrobe has come from there.  This is classic styling to appeal to the male: black and spiky.  Shoes are from a different ensemble.

This is Cal's "heroic" look.

Dazzled by Dreams offers a Noble Warlord with flare.  Cal seems to have a Dark Captain Picard thing going here.  Boots were provided.  This was a nice touch because boots and shoes to go with men's clothes are not often included.

Somewhere between medieval and Buck Rogers.

~FFS~ also provided boots with Azreal.  Check out the Urban Motley style: parti-chinos and  concrete-grey safari shirt.

Modern Jester.

And Let's Not Forget to Accessorize

The following were not part of a hunt, but they caught Cal's eye.  These boots look like a real deal.  The plain boots were 35L and the armor boots and sandals were 75L.  We may be going back!  We had found the hunt item at [LZ] Creations and some boots at a great price.  We then amused ourselves by looking around at the other small shops.

Where were these a year ago when Cal needed RP boots?!

Also, a trebuchet for 200L!  Whatta steal!  And brown goes with everything, right?

A must-have.

While you're there, test your juggling skills.  Cal tried the eggs and the flaming torches.  Oh, how we laughed.

Men On Fire.*

* This was a headline on the cover of the AARP magazine with a photo of Denzel Washington lionizing hot men over 50 (which now includes Jon Bon Jovi ... wait a minute, Jon Bon Jovi is fifteeee??!!).  I'm not about to rat Cal out here, but ...  Hmm, I do have to admit that the subscription is in my name. Ruh-roh!

Going Medieval

Handsome is as handsome does ...

The White Armory has a new men's group freebie out, the Tyrian Renegade Tunic Set - and look who's turned up!  We haven't seen Kris in ages!  I can't imagine why not.  What's that?  Oh, right: Cal came into my life.  Oh, don't give me that hurt puppy look!  I got you a nice new medieval outfit, didn't I?  Look at the detail!  Even some nice bloody slashes for that lived-in look!

Other items in Kris's look are past their Sale Date but are:

Isadore hair by Bryce Designs, the place to go for men's hair.
Alexander skin by Glamorize, in their dollar store!
Frock You boots - so old I can't trace them.

Again, The White Armory

I'm not sure why Lludmila had to find out about the latest group gift from The White Armory from one of the freebie blogs (see list at right - subscribe, subscribe, subscribe), as she is a group member.  The best we can figure is that the notice is hidden deep in one of the group messages/notecards or they just show up every Sunday.  How can this be?  How can they put out freebies like this so frequently?!

Anyway, Lludmila was so excited, she forgot to put her flies back on.  Just look at the textures!  This, like, totally assuages my Barbie-jones.
